6th Grade Students help with Coastal Conservation!
On September 15th, Allen Academy 6th graders, led by MS Science teacher Stephanie Hanover, traveled to Baytown to take part in phase one of the Get Hip to Habitat! program. During this trip, they harvested native estuarine marsh grass, which they will bring back to Allen Academy to cultivate, monitoring the growth and health of the grasses through testing and maintaining the proper environment. Next spring, these same students will take a trip to Galveston to transplant their matured grasses to a restoration site. This is yet another awesome example of how Allen Academy teachers work hard to provide authentic learning opportunities for our students!
