What do you love about Allen?

I love that Allen Academy is a school committed to its faculty and students.  Allen continually strives to enhance academic learning through various different teaching styles and maintains the feeling of a big family through the love and care for each individual. It is definitely a unique school that has so much to offer.

Other hats you wear or have worn at Allen or previous schools:

What are you passionate about?

I am very passionate about senior citizens, children and people with special needs.  I have devoted the majority of my life to helping, encouraging and supporting these people through various means.

Interesting Facts about you: My father was a pilot in the Navy, so we lived in many different places.  My favorite place was Puerto Rico.  Our backyard was the coast of the island!  It was there that I fell in love with the ocean and beautiful cliffs.  In 2014, I swam with the Manta Rays at night in Kona, Hawaii and took my first helicopter ride over Hilo!

I have hiked in many beautiful places:  Haleakala Nat’l Park in Maui, Kilauea Iki Trail on the Big Island, Joshua Tree Nat’l Park and Yosemite, CA., the mountains in Red River, New Mexico and the Appalachian Trail in Tenn/N. Carolina.  I love traveling, camping, fishing, gardening, reading, music, sign language and above all of these, my family.

Favorite book? The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.

Favorite quote? “When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced.  Live your life in such a manner that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.” – Indian Proverb

What causes are close to your heart? Special Olympics and the Girl Scouts

If you were a fictional character, who would you be? I would be Mary Poppins.  I would love to “pop” open my umbrella and take my kids on exciting adventures.  I would like to be able to sing like Mary Poppins also!
