Last month we discussed the topic of adaptive expertise and with it, the concept of deep learning.  Deep learning, a concept that is best depicted in the image above, has its roots in relationships. These relationships enhance the ability to engage students in their learning, allowing the "deep" to take place.

4th Grade Descriptive Writing

Fourth grade took our descriptive writing outdoors to take note of the sights, sounds, smells, and textures of this gorgeous fall weather!  Students found a lot of wonderful smelling objects to describe in the garden, and they even managed to locate a live lizard or two to assist us in broadening our view of colors and textures.  

Caleb Wins Largest Team at Buddy Walk!

As an Allen family we were proud to walk with Caleb and the Benner family at the 2014 Buddy Walk. Caleb is the brother of an Allen senior, Christopher Benner. This was an amazing day to see the support of the Allen community with over 120 people walking with Caleb! Buddy Walk is used to raise funds for the Down Syndrome Association of the Brazos Valley that provides many educational classes like Handwriting Without Tears, reading and math class, social skills class, fitness class, computer class and Caleb’s favorite class cooking & nutrition class.
