December Preschool News from Mrs. Westbrook

Author: Heather StClair  •

Preschool had a thankful, busy November!   An in-depth study of the various Native American tribes involved creating Native American dress, symbol writing, and totem poles that told a family story. Village life was discussed and role played as well as a focus on the foods that were brought to the first Thanksgiving. During our Thanksgiving Celebration the children played in our teepee “Peace Village”, created Native American dances, built totem poles, raced ponies, went on a turkey hunt and sampled a Native American snack. This was followed by a focus on the Pilgrims arrival, Samoset and the first Thanksgiving. It was a delightful month full of examples of friendship and thankfulness.

It was wonderful to see everyone at our Annual Thanksgiving Lunch. Thank you so much for joining us! We hope you all enjoyed a happy Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Busy elves visited our building over the holiday and the children were welcomed back with festive holiday decorations everywhere! Please plan to join us for the following events and we wish you a joyous, family filled Winter Break!

December 1st – Wild West Book Fair (7:30 to 3:30). The Preschool is excited to host its own mini Book Fair! Please plan a few minutes to do some Christmas shopping and enjoy some refreshments.

December 14th – Annual Christmas Program and class parties. The students are welcome to wear holiday pajamas to our program “The Night Before Christmas”. The program will be followed immediately by our class parties. We will have a brunch style menu and you can find the party sign-up outside your child’s classroom door. The children will share the gift of reading by participating in a book exchange at our party. Each child will need a wrapped book with their name on the tag to place under their class tree. We look forward to sharing this happy day with you and your child.

December 15th – Preschool is closed.

January 3rd – Preschool resumes
