Off to a great start in Pre-K! – Mrs. Westbrook’s Monthly Update

Author: Heather StClair  •

Preschool has had a wonderful start to the school year and we loved receiving so many hugs and kind words as we welcomed everyone back for another wonderful year!

September will be packed full of learning and guest visitors! Rangers Westbrook and Bear led a delightful camping adventure in PK-I, and now jungle roars can be heard from Old Mrs. Westbrook’s Zoo. The PreK-II children explored the human body and how it works – they even made child-sized hearts that they could squeeze to understand how a heart beats! They continued with using their 5 senses to taste, touch, smell, listen, and see. They conducted several experiments that challenged each sense: erupting colors, mystery cups, and an awesome tasting activity. As they began their Safety unit, there were small friends dressed as firemen while making siren sounds and putting out “fires”. Everyone ended the week with a visit from the Bryan Fire Department, which included a safety discussion, a fireman in full bunker gear, and time spent exploring their awesome fire truck! We will round out the month of September with PK-II enjoying their Fall unit and PK-I will explore a unit on Community Helpers.

We are all looking forward to welcoming the fall season and are thankful that the weather is beginning to reflect it as well. Please note the following special activities for our preschoolers:

September 13th – Founder’s Day Assembly

September 18th – 22nd – Homecoming Week

Please read the Sunday Snapshot and your weekly newsletter for more information about weekly events. Facebook often has pictures of our awesome adventures so please see that link as well.

Thank you again for an awesome start to our year and for sharing your precious children with us each day. Laughter, love, and learning are in abundance as I move through the hallways visiting the classrooms. It is always a joy to watch our children grow and learn!

Happy September, everyone!
