Spanish 1:
This course will provide students with a deeper understanding of the concepts that have already been introduced in Spanish. Students will increase their interpersonal skills in the target language. An emphasis will be placed on the accuracy in which students can speak and write. Speaking in the target language will be expected as frequently as possible on a daily basis. Active classroom participation is essential for success.
Topics for Spanish 1 include:
review from the previous year, introductions and conversation, basic conjugations of -ar,-ir and -er verbs, daily routines, irregular verbs,, stem-changes, ser and estar, direct and indirect objects, reflexive verbs and introduce the preterite. Our cultural focus will be on Mexico, Cuba, Colombia and Panama.
Spanish 2: Prerequisite - Spanish 1
This course will provide students with a deeper understanding of the concepts that have already been introduced in Spanish 1. Students will increase their interpersonal skills in the target language. An emphasis will be placed on student accuracy with grammar variations utilizing:Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational skills. Speaking in the target language will be expected as frequently as possible on a daily basis. Active classroom participation is essential for success.
Topics for Spanish 2 include:
review from the previous year and introduce the imperfect vs preterite, commands, reciprocal reflexives, subjunctive, future and conditional tense. Our cultural focus will be on Mexico, Cuba, Colombia and Panama.
Spanish 3: Prerequisite - Spanish 2
This course will provide students with a deeper understanding of the concepts that have already been introduced in Spanish 1 and Spanish 2. Students will increase their interpersonal skills in the target language. Students will increase proficiency levels by placing an emphasis on accuracy of Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational skills. Materials will include a variety of short stories, poems, current events and classic movie clips. Active classroom participation and speaking in the target language is essential for success.
Topics for Spanish 3 Include:
a review from the previous years and work more with the subjunctive mood, future tense, conditional mood and their conjugations. Building vocabulary, writing and reading skills through short stories, literature and current events. Culturals will include México, Cuba, Argentina, Colombia, Panamá, and current events from each country.
AP Spanish IV: Language and Culture: Prerequisite - Spanish 3
This course provides students with opportunities to develop language proficiency across the three modes of communication: Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational. Students learn about culture through the use of authentic materials that are representative of the Spanish-speaking world. Materials include a variety of media, such as newspapers, organization websites, music selections, literary works, interviews, movies, charts, and graphs. AP Spanish Language and Culture is a language acquisition course designed to provide students with the necessary skills and intercultural understanding to enable them to communicate successfully in an environment where Spanish is spoken and, as such, is an immersion experience requiring exclusive use of Spanish.

AP Spanish V: Literature and Culture: Prerequisite - Spanish 4
This course is designed to introduce the formal study of Peninsular Spanish, Latin American, and U.S. Hispanic literature from medieval times to the present age. Students will read a wide variety of works from diverse genres as recommended by the College Board. During the year, all works on the official AP Spanish Literature and Culture reading list will be covered in class. The course aims to develop critical reading and analytical writing skills in Spanish as well as the ability to make interdisciplinary connections and explore linguistic and cultural comparisons.
